Axial spherical roller bearings

Axial spherical roller bearings are suitable where:

  • bearing arrangements are subjected to high and very high axial loads
  • dynamic or static misalignments of the shaft relative to the housing, or deflections of the shaft, must be compensated by the bearing under axial loads
  • radial forces occur in addition to axial forces (maximum 55% of Fa)
  • a relatively high speed suitability is required in addition to a high load carrying capacity
  • high shock type loads must be supported
  • bearing parts are to be mounted separately (the bearings are not self‑retaining)

Axial Spherical Roller Bearings

Axial spherical roller bearings are single row units comprising a shaft locating washer, housing locating washer and asymmetrical barrel rollers with cages. The cage holds the roller and cage assembly and the shaft locating washer together. The bearings can be dismantled. As a result, the bearing components can be fitted separately.

Due to the geometry of the rolling elements and raceway, axial spherical roller bearings feature angular adjustability, which can compensate for shaft deflections and misalignments of the bearing seats.

Further key features in addition to angular adjustability are the high radial and very high axial load carrying capacity, even in the presence of shock type loads.
